I just listened to both Pine and Hahn. While both are wonderful, I prefer Pine. The dynamics are much better and her ability to be gentle and yet commanding is amazing. Her musicality is second to none
I saw Maxim Vengerov perform the Concerto with the Met Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in January. They performed the 4th Symphony for the second part of the program. I love this piece and believe - along with the D Minor Piano Concerto — it’s one of his best. Really appreciate this deep dive into the recordings (I have the Karajan - Anne Sophie Mutter and the Fritz Reiner “Living Stereo” recordings), so will check these out!
