Mr Buxton, I was wondering something. Could you add the recording by King's College under Cleobury to your list of recommended recordings?

There are three Messiah recordings from Cleobury's long 37-year tenure as King's College Director of Music. There was a Decca studio version, a live version issued on Brilliant Classics with the same cast as the Decca, and a second live version on EMI, from 2009.

Of those three recordings I'm partial to the live version on Brilliant. It's a bright, smart and focused version. A steady and committed version.

I know it's been under the radar compared to the Hogwood or Beecham versions, but I was wondering if you have had the chance to listen to that version.

I listen to so many recordings of different works, I sometimes cannot remember qualities of specific recordings after weeks or months. I will go back and listen to the Cleobury on the Brilliant label, thank you for the recommendation! I will let you know what I think of it, and if I can add it to the list.
