Dear Subscribers and Readers,
A quick note to let you know I have updated the recommended recordings section of my most recent Building a Collection post, #71 covering Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez. At the suggestion of one of my wonderful readers Marcus, I have added a recording to the recommended list by Cuban guitarist Manuel Barrueco. He is accompanied by the Philharmonia Orchestra under Placido Domingo (Warner 1996). Barrueco is a sensitive and expressive musician, and the Adagio is particularly poignant and haunting. In addition, I added the 1975 recording by guitarist Julian Bream with the Monteverdi Orchestra under Sir John Eliot Gardiner (Warner 1975) to the honorable mention list.
Join me next time when we discuss Camille Saint-Saëns’ most famous work, his Symphony no. 3 “Organ”. See you then.
