The Top 75 Conductors Series
#1: Claudio Abbado
________________
I want to extend a warm welcome to all paid subscribers of Building a Classical Music Collection, and to say again how much I appreciate your support. As I mentioned recently, I am beginning a new series called The Top 75 Conductors. A quick update, you may notice the list has expanded from 50 to 75 conductors as many readers reached out to tell me some of their favorite conductors were missing. I agreed, and so I expanded the list. The new list is forthcoming, so look for that post.
But since the names on the list won’t be ranked, as mentioned before I will be covering the conductors in alphabetical order by last name. Just to be included on the list is itself enough of a ranking, and so to rank them further would be far too subjective. Thus, we begin at the top with the late maestro Claudio Abbado.
