PAGANINI 24 Caprices / María Dueñas | Deutsche Grammophon

The Best New Classical Albums of 2025

Album #7

Niccolò Paganini et al.

24 Caprices for Solo Violin

María Dueñas, violin

Label: Deutsche Grammophon

Released: February 14, 2025

__________

Deutsche Grammophon seems invested in promoting their new star of the violin, the young Spanish virtuoso María Dueñas. Dueñas won the 2021 Yehudi Menuhin Competition at the age of 18. After releasing her DG debut album Beethoven and Beyond in 2023, Dueñas is back with her second album titled Paganini: 24 Caprices which also includes works by Pablo de Sarasate, Fritz Kreisler, Jordi Cervelló, Henryk Wieniawski, Gabriela Ortiz, Camille Saint-Saëns, and Hector Berlioz. Deutsche Grammophon’s investment is certainly paying off in this most recent release, with Dueñas brilliantly performing the stunningly difficult and colorful pieces on the program.
