________________

It is hard to believe this is superstar Dutch violinist Janine Jansen’s first concerto recordings in eight years, but she has timed it right with the rise of the young and gifted Finnish conductor and cellist Klaus Mäkelä as he has risen to take the reins of the Oslo Philharmonic.  Mäkelä and Jansen have contracts with Decca, and so it makes perfect sense they would team together eventually, and here they have done so already with a superb release featuring the Sibelius Violin Concerto and the Prokofiev Violin Concerto no. 1.  The album was recorded in Oslo at the Oslo Konserthus in 2023.
