My Ten Recommended New Holiday Albums of 2024

Welcome back to all of you, and during this season of joy and thanksgiving I want to say thank you again for your support as a paid subscriber to Building a Classical Music Collection. I sincerely wish each of you the best for this Holiday season and in 2025.
My overall impression of the new classical releases this year for the Holidays is that the field is perhaps thinner and less satisfying than in previous years. Nevertheless I have found some very worthy albums, and I hope you find a few favorites among them. As in past years, I have tried to choose different types of recordings, some more traditional carols but also newer compositions, some solo instrumental albums and some orchestral albums as well. I hope you enjoy these selections.
One disclaimer I always add, this is a list that focuses primarily on Christmas music performed mostly by classical artists. The focus on Christmas music is not to forget there are other religious traditions observed this time of year as well. However, the music reviewed here is still predominantly Christmas themed.
